About

I'm a self-employed full-stack developer and IT consultant based in Berlin, with over 25 years of experience designing, building and operating web applications, web shops and community platforms.

My technical focus is PHP, Java and JavaScript, modern web frameworks, and CMS and shop systems. As a consultant I help clients gain digital sovereignty through open-source strategies, run their own Linux infrastructure, and meet quality, GDPR and accessibility standards.

I'm an active member of the open source community, with over 100 of my own projects on GitHub.

Career

Since 2005 · Self-employed IT Consultant & Software Developer — Software conception, project organisation and development for e-commerce, web and community platforms. Long-term clients include Cornelsen Schulverlag (QA), Fairmas, Visions New Media and Pampered Chef Deutschland.
2001–2005 · adesso AG, Berlin — Consultant & Software Developer. System architecture, technical project management and development in e-business, focused on mobile applications, Java applications and content management systems.
2000–2001 · aperto AG, Berlin — Software Developer. Technical project management and development of internet applications and multimedia productions, including work for Coca-Cola and the German Federal Ministry of Economics.
1998–2000 · Condat AG, Berlin — Student employee. Co-development of load-testing systems for mobile devices, in C++/MFC and Java.

Education

1995–2000 · Computer Engineering, TFH Berlin — Diploma (Dipl.-Ing.). Thesis: "Developing web applications with open-source tools."
1993–1994 · School of Audio Engineering (SAE), Berlin — Sound technician training, graduated with diploma.

Before Software

Before moving into software I worked in audio and film: as a set sound engineer for film productions (1994–1999, including for dffb, Filmakademie Ludwigsburg and the TV series "Boomtown Berlin"), and as an audio producer at Kiss FM Radio in Berlin (1992–1994).
